Describing this rescue is a difficult task, not because of the physical challenge it posed. Rather, it’s heart-wrenching to see a canine who has likely been suffering for months. The poor thing is understandably scared, thinking that her agony will never cease. I must admit, I’ve never encountered such an enormous tumor in a dog before.
The rescue of Alma was incredibly intense, with everyone rushing and shouting. As they brought her to safety, it became clear that she had something wrong with her leg. The team from Viktor Larkhill worked tirelessly to bring her into their care. Despite her youth, poor Alma had been suffering for months with excruciating pain.
According to Alma’s perspective, pain is a natural experience, and people are not to be trusted, as she has been shot before. Life, at best, is something that should be endured. However, it’s important to recognize her for the beautiful and long-suffering dog that she is.
Viktor Larkhill revealed that they are currently awaiting Alma’s CT scan report and biopsy findings. For now, Alma is under 24/7 care at their hospital, where her tumor is cleaned and dressed daily. Thankfully, Alma seems to understand that they are trying to help her and has allowed them to handle her and feed her by hand. Viktor assures everyone that they will do everything in their power to save her life while also preserving her leg. Alma will receive all the care and attention she needs.
Alma is still receiving medical care at the hospital and her surgery is scheduled for later this week. Doctors suspect that she may have a liposarcoma, but thankfully it has not spread. The veterinarians are doing their best to ensure her limb remains intact.
It was quite a tough job giving Alma her first bath. She was extremely scared and anxious, but we finally managed to clean up all the dirt she had accumulated over the course of her life. It was essential to get her cleaned up before her surgery, which is scheduled soon. But we are still waiting for her anaemia to improve a bit more before proceeding. The doctors suspect a liposarcoma, which is not great news, but it could have been worse. Thankfully, we have a wonderful community who can help us save her limb. With your generous support, we will do everything in our power to ensure Alma receives the best possible care.
