A social media sensation, a dog with only two legs, was rescued and returned to his owners after he ran away following a car accident. Duncan Lou Who went missing near the Montana-Idaho border when the car he was traveling in, along with his owners Gary Walter and Amanda Giese, their kids, and two other dogs, crashed on US Highway 20 in Idaho. The accident occurred late on a Friday night when the family’s teenage son, Beast, was behind the wheel and a bison suddenly appeared on the road. The car collided with the bison, then hit two power poles before rolling over multiple times.
After escaping from a car accident in Idaho, a bipedal dog known as Duncan Lou Who has been located following a 17-hour search.
Approximately 30 to 40 volunteers joined Gary Walter, Amanda Giese, and their kids in the search for the dog following the accident.
The accident occurred at approximately 11pm on Friday when Beast, the teenage son of Walter and Giese, was behind the wheel and a bison unexpectedly crossed the road. Their vehicle collided with the bison, causing it to spin out of control, hit two power poles, and flip multiple times.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident. However, Duncan was spooked and ran off when the family went to look for their dogs.
Walters expressed her concern, thinking Duncan might be injured or worse. Despite hours of search efforts by officials, Duncan remained elusive. The family was eventually taken to their cabin in Island Park, Idaho.

The other pair of dogs who were in the car during the accident, seen in the photo with Duncan in the middle, were discovered to be safe and unharmed.
News spread quickly, and within a day, around 30 to 40 volunteers had gathered to help search for Duncan.
Then, in the afternoon, Giese got a call from a man who had seen the two-legged dog about three miles away.
“He had gone to get gas and heard people talking about a two-legged dog,” Walters shared with EastIdahoNews.com. “After reading your article, he called Amanda. So we all went to the quarry together.”
Just 300 yards down the road, Duncan was discovered safe and unharmed, 17 hours after he had escaped from the scene of the accident.

Duncan entered the world with legs that were deformed, eventually leading to their removal in order to enhance the dog’s comfort.
“I can’t even put into words how relieved I was to see him again because I never thought I would,” Walters shared. “We were willing to search for him for as long as it took, whether it was a month or two, because he truly deserves that.”
Duncan was born with deformed hind legs, but they were eventually removed to improve his comfort. Even with only his front limbs, this boxer manages to not only balance himself but also run and play happily with other dogs.
His story captured the hearts of many after it went viral when he was just a puppy. Duncan even made an appearance on the Today show before becoming a sensation on Instagram.
