A darling canine, abandoned and left for peril, has managed to master the art of walking and running on its hind legs.
Putol was born without her hind legs, but she never allowed her disability to hold her back. As demonstrated in this adorable video, the six-year-old canine has mastered the art of running surprisingly fast on her two front paws, all thanks to her new owner, Danilo Codilego Jr.
Putol, which translates to “chopped” in the Tagalog language spoken in Luzon, The Philippines, is frequently spotted running alongside other canines and exploring the side streets and gutters of Quezon City’s Casiguran neighborhood.
Can we just take a moment to reflect on the fact that this unfortunate girl has been labeled as ‘chopped’? It’s a name that is both cruel and endearing.
Apart from her questionable name, this puppy has become quite a sensation in the neighborhood due to her bravery and zest for life.
A local truck driver named Danilo shared, “We crossed paths six years ago. I was working at a bakery back then. One day, a colleague brought in four puppies. He was trying to sell them for 5000 pesos each (£115/$151).
“The other puppies found buyers, but nobody wanted Puto(l), the unfortunate two-legged puppy.”
That comment won’t affect you in any way.
“They didn’t expect her to survive for a long time,” Danilo continued. I was the only one who had the courage to take care of her. We took risks because we felt pity for her.
“We couldn’t think of anything else besides PutoL.”
Couldn’t come up with anything? Molly, Coco, Willow? I can think of three right now, buddy.
Putol faced a significant challenge in her early years as she was unable to walk. However, through determination and perseverance, she gradually acquired the skill of balancing herself on her front legs, eventually mastering the art. Presently, Putol takes on the responsibility of patrolling the property, showing great dedication to protecting her owner.
According to Danilo, Putol exhibits qualities similar to those of a guard dog, often barking whenever a stranger approaches. Additionally, she tends to become jealous when I give attention to other dogs. Despite these traits, Putol is generally a kind and well-liked member of our community, receiving a lot of affection from those around her.
“When I have to travel for work, I have no worries because everyone takes care of her. She is not finicky and enjoys the same food as us. Unfortunately, she cannot have puppies due to her illness. However, we believe that puppies are the least of her concerns as she is too busy having fun!”
