All dogs in shelters dream of finding a forever home they can call their own. Although shelters strive to make this happen, adoption can be a complex journey. Some furry friends spend a prolonged period searching for their ideal home, while others face disappointments along the way.
Just recently, we recounted the unfortunate tale of Ronald, a dog who endured a string of fourteen unsuccessful adoption attempts. However, he never lost hope, and now, we are thrilled to announce that this incredible pup has finally found his forever home!
SPCA of Wake County recently brought attention to Ronald’s remarkable journey on January 11. Ronald, despite his mere weight of 63 pounds, possesses quite the sturdy and imposing physique, earning him the nickname of a “big boy”. Surprisingly, this very attribute may have hindered his chances of finding a forever home, especially with families having young children. The SPCA believes that Ronald’s multiple unsuccessful adoption attempts can be attributed to misconceptions surrounding his larger-than-life appearance.
They also referred to Ronald as a “giant puppy” who would eagerly jump up and place his paws on you when he was excited or be a little nippy at times. While Ronald may have been too energetic for some households, the SPCA was confident that there was a perfect match out there who would appreciate him as the ideal companion.
“Ronald is extremely friendly, obedient, and takes rewards with the utmost gentleness. He truly is a well-behaved and delightful dog,” the SPCA expressed. “His enthusiasm for treats and performing tricks makes him an excellent candidate for training. He will surely excel as a student.”
Fortunately, Ronald’s fortune took a turn for the better in no time. His tale spread like wildfire, capturing the attention of numerous kind-hearted souls who were eager to provide him a forever home. The adoption requests flooded in so rapidly that the shelter reached its maximum capacity in no time.
“It’s amazing how swiftly his fortunes changed,” shared Samantha Ranlet, the SPCA spokeswoman, with WRAL. “We’re absolutely amazed by the overwhelming response.”
The SPCA recently shared an exciting update on Ronald’s story, declaring that his string of misfortune has finally come to an end. In their statement, they happily announced that Ronald’s new family has reported his remarkable progress, especially with the children who have completely fallen in love with him. The SPCA provided endearing pictures of Ronald with his new family, showing just how well he is settling into his new home.
Ronald seems to have finally achieved success in finding a forever home after facing disappointment with 14 unsuccessful adoption attempts. The uplifting news and the immense outpouring of support for Ronald brought great joy to the SPCA.
Expressing their gratitude on Facebook, the SPCA wrote, “We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared Ronald’s story. Your kind words of encouragement and generous offers to assist him left us feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. Within just a day, Ronald’s tale touched the hearts of approximately a million people, all thanks to the wide reach of your shares. His entire world transformed suddenly and profoundly. We continue to be astounded by the incredible impact you can have on a life simply by using the power of your keyboard!”
