Becoming a first-time mom comes with a lot of hard work and stress! The job of one pit bull mom was made even tougher when she and her ten puppies were left in front of the Sacramento SPCA office on a freezing day. With no food, water, or comfortable bedding, they were in a tough spot. Luckily, the staff at the SPCA were there to lend a hand!
Staff members commented that the puppies were small, as they had just arrived moments before their mother was abandoned at the entrance. Though it’s likely that this loving mom was bewildered by the situation and may have wanted to follow her previous owners, she remained with her pups and dedicated herself to ensuring their safety.
The shelter was grateful to have found the dog left at their doorstep instead of somewhere else, but they now faced a new challenge. Finding foster homes for their dogs was usually doable, but finding someone willing to take in a mother dog and her ten puppies all at once seemed like a stretch!
Out of nowhere, a kind guardian angel showed up right when they needed it and kindly offered to take in the whole family. It was an instant connection, with the foster dad kneeling down to give the puppies some love and the mom happily accepting his generosity.
The foster dad not only enjoyed looking after the family, but he also spread some joy by sharing their pictures on social media for everyone to see.
Eventually, the foster dad looked after the puppies for a few months until they were ready to be on their own. After that, the shelter arranged for them to be placed in different homes where they could receive lots of love and care!
The outlook seemed grim for the mother dog who was abandoned with her puppies on the shelter’s doorstep. But with the help of the shelter workers, a dedicated foster father, and potential adopters, it seems like a bright future is in store for these pups!
