HSI, an animal welfare group, has achieved a commendable feat by saving several helpless puppies and dogs from a dog meat farm in South Korea. Through a well-planned and executed operation, HSI managed to free these unfortunate furry friends from a bleak dog farm situated in Hongseong, located in the western part of South Korea. Almost 200 distressed canines had been enduring the distress of being trapped within unhygienic cages, exposed to appalling conditions.
Various dog breeds, ranging from Pomeranians and poodles to huskies and French bulldogs, were bred for eight years in South Korea, primarily for their meat and as pets. However, the line between puppy mills and dog meat farms is often blurred in the country, leading to animal abuse. According to Nara Kim of HSI South Korea, many of the dogs found in cramped cages with exposed wire floors were newborns. They are suffering in the hands of two abusive industries, and their fate depends on whether they will fetch more money as a pet or as meat.
The flooring caused several dogs to have untreated injuries on their paws.
The little ones solely relied on heat lamps to keep themselves warm, and they also had a few tires to insulate themselves. Meanwhile, the livestock designated for meat production were forced to endure the harsh winter outside until they were purchased by the nearby restaurants. Observing a terrified dog, a comforting hug is all that the pup needs.
On Facebook, HSI posted a video that showcased the pitiful living conditions that unfortunate dogs had to endure, which were both filthy and inhumane.
The Animal Rescue Team is currently present in Hongseong, South Korea with the goal of putting an end to a dog meat and puppy mill farm. As per their caption, the team is planning on rescuing around 200 dogs and relocating them to caring homes in Canada and the US. These rescued dogs will be transported through flights and will be made available for adoption by HSI.
