Canines are more than just pets; they are an integral part of our existence. They are like our family members who possess emotions similar to humans. When it comes to being faithful to their owners, dogs are unparalleled in their loyalty. This quality of devotion is not just limited to dogs that have a home; stray dogs also exhibit this characteristic. The story of Buboy’s visit to his friend exemplifies the heartrending experience of saying goodbye.
A stray canine, who goes by the name Buboy, has recently captured the hearts of many online users due to his unwavering loyalty towards a professor at Mabalacat City College in Pampanga. For four years, this professor has been taking care of Buboy by providing him with food and establishing a friendship with him. It became a daily routine for Buboy to visit his classroom every morning for breakfast and come back during lunchtime for some snacks. At night, he would then stay around the campus to keep an eye out on the buildings. Unfortunately, the professor became ill one day, and his colleagues noticed something unusual. Buboy has been visiting the classroom every morning for the past two weeks, eagerly waiting to greet his teacher. Such a faithful dog!
At this point, Kristina, a co-worker of the professor, made the decision to bring the dog to visit him one last time. It was an emotional reunion between two dear friends who were both overjoyed to see each other. Buboy couldn’t contain his happiness and ran to embrace his friend while wagging his tail non-stop. Sadly, just two weeks later when they reunited again, Marcelo’s health took a turn for the worse and he had to be hospitalized. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, Marcelo ultimately passed away.
As the professor’s door was scratched by a stray dog, students captured the moment on film. Witnessing the dog’s desperation, they decided to bring him to the local church where Carmelito’s coffin laid open. The dog cried as he was shown the body of his old friend. Buboy, the dog, then lay down in front of the casket and refused to leave Marcelo’s side. Mark Christian Arceo, a student who documented the scene, shared it on social media with the quote: “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself – Josh Billings.”
Mark expressed his sadness in observing the dog eagerly waiting for his friend, unaware that his dear companion has departed. Fortunately, many kind-hearted individuals, including the staff, students, and teachers, are lending a hand in providing food for Buboy. The collective effort brings hope and comfort to the furry creature during this difficult time.
